A lifelong cinephile, Jed Bolipata founded the weekly magazine, website and youtube channel
THE MOVIE TIMES
which he ran as Editor-in-Chief from 1993-2024, managing a team of writers and videographers, interviewing major film players from the directors Robert Altman to Zhang Yimou to the actors Meryl Streep and Ralph Fiennes, as well as contributing live coverage of film festivals from Cannes to Tribeca.
A devout acolyte of the DOGMA movement, he has made many films using its creed of simplicity, authenticity and purity.
His photography has been featured in multiple gallery shows, most recently his CELLPHIES series, Parts 1 and 2.
As a performer (aka Jaime Bolipata), he has toured all over the world as recitalist, concerto soloist and chamber musician, thrilling audiences and critics alike with his consummate artistry and delicate touch at the piano. The New York Times once praised his "authoritative interpretations" and the Washington Post singled out his ability to "make the piano sing." For ten years, he was the Music Director of the Pensacola Chamber Music Festival. As a composer, his music has been performed all over the world. His last opera THE WAGES OF SIN, a darkly comic portrait of New York at the dawn of the 1930s, premiered in 2022. Jed received his training at the Juilliard School where he was awarded the Gina Bachauer Memorial Prize for Piano. He was a member of Chamber Music America from 1983-1990 and the Real Estate Board of New York from 2007-2024. |
